Netflix Recommendations (September 9th 2014)

Looking for something to watch tonight? Here are some films that I've enjoyed on Netflix recently.

The Family- A mafia family is moved to Normandy under the witness protection program, where they discover that old habits die hard. This film has a nice blend of action and comedy, as well as having a decent story. Seeing this family adjust to its new surroundings has its moments, and the events that transpire over the course of the film are interesting to watch unfold. If you love action comedies or mob movies, you might want to give this one a shot.

Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan- An interesting look at the man behind so many outstanding visual effects from many great films. From the early stages of his career to his later years, this film tells it all and has some great behind the scenes tidbits from various films over the years. If you love the art of film making, or just want a good documentary to watch, I'd say give this a shot.

Wishmaster- Wishmaster is a great horror film, which I felt was a cross between "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Leprechaun". When an evil being known as djinn is released from his prison, he seeks the woman who released him so he can use her soul to open a portal thus freeing more of his kind to inhabit the earth. Not only was this a fun film to watch, it also had a ton of cameos from many horror film actors like Tony Todd, Kane Hodder and Robert Englund.

King Solomon's Mines- While not a cinematic masterpiece, King Solomon's Mines is a fun film to watch. Allan Quartermain is helping a woman track down her father who has been kidnapped because he knows how to read the map to find King Solomon' mines. It has its dumb moments sure, but it's the kind of movie that you can shut down your brain and kick back and enjoy.

Trailer Park Boys- I'll be honest and say that this show isn't for everyone, but that doesn't mean its bad. I myself was hesitant at first, but after watching the first episode, I was hooked. The antics of Julian, Ricky and Bubbles are hilarious and there are a ton of wacky characters and personalities that live in the trailer park with them. With the new season just released, now is the perfect time to spend some time at Sunnyvale trailer park with the Trailer Park Boys.

Warcraft: The Beginning (2016) Review

As a gamer and self professed nerd, I was excited when the news broke that a Warcraft film was finally moving ahead past the script stag...
